       Arogatam - Free of Disease

3.Completed 24 Caupais(verses) of Chalisa.

4. Made Japa mala out of colorful beads.

5.kids will be making Back bone project during last class in December.

6. Practice Chalisa everyday.

1. Opening prayer " Om Sahanavavathu", followed by Gurubrahma 
     gururvishnuhu and Saraswathi slokam.
2. Chanted Dhyana Sloka several times. Children are learning meaning of
    Dhyana sloka. We talked about the fifth word/quality of Hanuman
   "Nirbhayatvam" from dhyana sloka.






3. "Nirbhayatvam"- Fearlessness is a state of being free from any kind of
     fear while doing right thing.      Being honest to Ones self will make one fearless.
     Swami Tapovanji ( Swami Chinmayananda's teacher) was fearless and
     encountered many wild animals while traveling form one place to another
     on bare foot.
     When we see unity in the universe, no fear can remain.





 4. Hanuman chalisa - Covered Dohaa and Chowpayee on page1.

Homework: Practice Hanuman chalisa - Dohaa and Chowpayee.

1. Opening prayer " Om Sahanavavathu", followed by Gurubrahma 
     gururvishnuhu and Saraswathi slokam.

 2. Chanted Dhyana Sloka several times. Children are learning meaning of
    Dhyana sloka. We talked about the Fifth word/quality of Hanuman
   "Dhairyam" from Dhyana sloka. 





3. "Dhairyam"- Courage is to do right thing despite difficulties and obstacles.
      One needs courage to overcome even a small and trivial habits in our life.


4. Taught about Valmiki, who transformed from a thief to a great saint.


5.Talked about courage shown by Rosa parks, that initiated Civil rights movement.

Summary of 12, October 2014 Dhairyam class

Topics covered on 12 October, 2014

1. Opening prayer " Om Sahanavavathu", followed by Gurubrahma 

     gururvishnuhu and Saraswathi slokam.

2. Chanted Dhyana Sloka several times. Children are learning meaning of

    Dhyana sloka. Recapped last week's class. We talked about the third word/quality of Hanuman
   "Yashas=Yasho" from dhyana sloka. 

3. "Yashas"- Fame. Greatness and fame are achieved through hardworking and perseverance for a   
      noble goal.
      We spoke about our beloved Gurudev, Swami Chinmayananda, how His dedication  to serve 
      society with His selfless work established Chinmaya missions all over the world.  Thus He 
      achieved fame by hardwork and dedication. We discussed about other embodiments like Swami 
       Vivekananda and Mahatma Gandhi.

 4. Hanuman chalisa - Covered Dohaa and Chowpayee on page1 and 2 (up to 12 Chowpayee).

Homework:


1. What is  Dandi March headed by Mahatma Gandhi?

2. What is the anthem written by Rabindranath Tagore?

3. Practice Hanuman chalisa - Dohaa and Chowpayee.

Parents, make sure you play chalisa for kids. Practice Dhyana sloka every day.
Next week we will talk about Diwali. Feel free to dress them well for Diwali.

    Dhyana sloka. We talked about the second word/quality of Hanuman
   "Balam" from dhyana sloka. 

3. "Balam"- Strength, strong body with strong mind is needed to attain success.
      Mahatma Gandhi  succeeded in his mission of  attaining Independence to India through
      non- violence. He was a good example of both physical and mental strength.

1. What is the name of the march headed by Mahatma Gandhi to make salt?.

2. What is the name of vulture king that fought with Ravana to save Sita from abduction?

1. Opening prayer " Om Sahanavavathu", followed by Gurubrahma 
     gururvishnuhu and Saraswathi slokam.

2. Chanted Dhyana Sloka several times. Children are learning meaning of
    Dhyana sloka. We talked about the first word/quality of Hanuman
   "Buddhi" from dhyana sloka. Narrated a story about budhi of Birbal
    counting the crows.

3. Started chanting Hanuman chalisa. We covered the first page in
    Hanuman chalisa coloring book, that is Dohaa and Chowpayee on page1.

4. Kids colored first coloring sheet from coloring book.

Please make sure your kids listen to dhyana sloka and Hanuman chalisa. Make them practice Dhyana sloka (sloka glued on the cover sheet of coloring book), Dohaa and Chowpayee on page 1 of coloring book. Please pack healthy snack for your kids.

    Jai Veera Hanuman
  1. Class started with an opening prayer “Sahanavavathu.”
  2. Did class orientation and discussed the curriculum.
  3. Explained about importance of Dhyana Shloka which is composed of eight noble qualities of Hanuman.
  4.  Chanted “Buddhir Balam Yasho Dhairyam” few times and explained that all.
  5. Eight noble qualities of Hanuman lie in eight vertebrae.
  6. To become noble, strong and focused like Hanuman, you need to keep spine  straight and attain all the noble qualities.
  7. Birbal-Barber story.
  8. Ended with closing prayer: “Purnamada Purnamidam".

  • Please google Dhyana Shloka (Buddhir Balam Yasho Dhairyam) and let kids listen as many times as possible.
